Lydia Lukidis Jewellery

LYDIA LUKIDIS proudly introduces her latest hand-made sterling silver collection, "The Impermanence of Form." These creations speak of the impermanence of all beings and things: how everything comes to be, endures constant transformation, but then inevitably comes to pass. Such is the cycle of life, and all we truly have is the present moment. This is the inspiration from which the designs emerge, as they seek to embody this sense of transience. Form and texture are explored, resulting in fluid, organic shapes that seem to be in metamorphosis.

The "Healing Crystals" theme is, as with every season, also explored. Lukidis' fascination with precious stones has led her to incorporate their therapeutic value within many of her pieces. Natural crystals and gems are traditionally believed to possess certain healing energies, and can affect a person's physical and emotional condition. The stones of choice for this season are amber, turquoise, red jade, lemon chrysoprase, freshwater pearls, and rose quartz.

Lydia Lukidis' vision consistently comes from a deeply spiritual place; her work encompasses all that is divine and sacred, and explores the realm of the esoteric. Her muses always include love, healing, nature, and sacred art. In general, the intention behind her work seeks to empower, protect, and heal the person who wears it. In addition to her ready to wear collections, she also creates specialty pieces such as beaded corsets and bridal accessories, and designs custom jewellery for clients such as L'Oréal. She has also given jewellery making courses and workshops at the Saidye Bronfman Centre for the Arts and the Visual Arts Centre in Montreal.

She began designing for her own label in 1999, and through sheer passion and love for her craft, now distributes her collections across Canada. Her work is featured everywhere from fashion shows to movies to magazine editorials, and has made an appearance at numerous red carpet events such as the Grammy, Juno, and Billboard award galas. Lukidis has also caught the attention of fashion editors and stylists of magazines and newspapers such as Elle Canada, The Gazette, Fashion, Clin d'Oeil, La Presse, and Mirror (Lukidis won as best local fashion designer in the Montreal Mirror's "Best of Montreal" readers' poll several times). Celebrity fans of her jewellery include Samantha Fox and Carmen Electra among others.
